Sri Ramana’s Self-Enquiry : Self enquiry leads directly to self realization by removing the obstacle that you think self is not realized. Meditation requires an object to meditate. For self enquiry, it is only the subject. The attempt to destroy the ego or self or the mind. Self enquiry is like the thief turning policeman to catch the thief that is himself. Self enquiry alone reveals the truth that neither ego nor mind really exist. You begin to seek its source and then you find it doesn’t exist at all. The mind turned outwards results in thoughts and objects turned inward become the self. In meditation all thoughts arise. They are hidden in you and are brought out. Unless it raises up, how can it be destroyed? There is no other way except to pull the mind up each time and fix on to self. --------------------------------------------------
