Srinagar, July 31: APHC spokesman Thursday stated that the amalgam is deliberating with legal luminaries and lawyers and contemplating legal action including filing a PIL in the court of law against the dictatorial authorities for time and again laying restrictions on religious activities of APHC Chairman, Dr. Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Umar Farooq on important occasions like during the recent Eid-ul-Fitar. The authorities took despotic measures on Eid-ul-Fitar by placing Mirwaiz under house arrest at his Nigeen residence thus barring him from delivering Eid sermon and addressing thousands of people who had come to Eidgah on Eid day . Meanwhile number of people including lawyers, religious and political leaders, scholars, respected elders and civil society members met Mirwaiz and expressed their dismay over the govt decision of putting Mirwaiz under house arrest on the auspicious occasion of Eid. It is to be noted that Being the chief cleric of Jammu and Kashmir, authorities have stopped Mirwaiz from offering Eid prayers from the past five years. The spokesman said restrictions on the religious activities of Mirwaiz tantamount to direct interference in religious affairs by the state and are carried to create a void between Mirwaiz and the people. Meanwhile Mirwaiz had to address thousands of people by phone On Eid ul fitr. During his telephonic address at Eidgah, APHC Chairman laid emphasis on the ongoing political situation and the problems faced by the Muslim Ummah with special reference to Palestine. Condemning the naked aggression of Israel against the innocent and unarmed Palestinians, Mirwaiz expressed serious concern over the double standards of the so called civilized world who are always beating the drum of human rights and justice but when it comes to the killings of innocents in Gaza they are maintaining a criminal silence. Mirwaiz also urged the people to remain steadfast viz a viz the Freedom struggle in Kashmir and said that no amount of cohersion or force can deter the people from carrying on their fight for self determination to its logical conclusion.
