Srinagar: The Kashmir High Court Bar Association (KHCBA) Thursday demanded an independent committee be constituted to scrutinize the cases of those persons who have earned awards and promotions by killing youths belonging to the Muslim community of the state. Reacting to the arrest of Sub-Inspector Shiv Kumar Sharma in Doda, who had been allegedly luring youth to militancy and then getting them killed to earn rewards, a KHCBA statement said, “It is not only Sharma who has earned awards and promotions by killing youths belonging to the Muslim community but others also. The Bar Association demands that an independent committee be constituted to scrutinize the cases of such persons, whether they belong to police department or any other department of the state government. “If the government fails to take any action, the Bar Association will have no other option but to approach the High Court. The Bar Association also demands to strip off all the medals given to Sharma.” The KHCBA also took note of disparity in the number of appointments to the KCS judicial between Jammu and Kashmir divisions. “Such disparity should be removed and a quota be provided for the Kashmir division in lower and higher judiciary,” the statement added.
