St. Peters Male Voice Choir helps raise €6,000 for St. Pauls National School, Walshestown. The Magic of Christmas came early for the residents of Walshestown and Clogherhead last Saturday evening when St. Peters Male Voice Choir of Drogheda dropped in to St. Michaels Church to perform a wonderful variety of popular and festive songs from their amazing repertoire. The concert was in aid of St. Pauls National School to support their building fund. Some of the children from the school guided by Jim Griffin helped open the concert singing In the Bleak Midwinter with the fantastic vocalist Seán Tester. The children joined in again for the finale performing Away in a Manger, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and All You Need is Love. Indeed, Santa Claus himself took time out from his hectic schedule to make an appearance! Many of the choir sang solo, showing off their individual talents as Musical Director Edward Holly flawlessly led proceedings. He even managed to get the audience to sing Cant Help Falling in Love and very good they were too. Edward announced the choir was donating 100 of their So this is Christmas CD and all had been purchased by the time the last happy concert-goer left the church! Needless to say there was a long standing ovation and cries of Encore! before the final song of the evening. Without doubt the €6,000 raised for the school which was greatly appreciated by the board, teachers, parents and pupils alike.
