Stand Up For Eric Garner Eric Garner Cant Breath So Let Everything that has breath stand up for him. Human life is precious and no one knows exactly how his/hers would end. Sometimes, it ends after a long battle and struggle with sickness. At other times, individuals fall asleep only to wake up on the other side of life, as we know. Occasionally, life ends unexpectedly as others helplessly watch from a distance. When those with the task of upholding the law and defending others engage in manslaughter using force, what to do? Such is the case with the late Eric Garner. Eric was a hefty African American who died because of a police officers chokehold on him in Staten Island New York. Before the strangulation could end his life, Eric expressed resentment against the nerve-racking behavior of the police officers patrolling the Island. Eric was furious that the Staten officers forever and a day have found various reasons to arrest him. If you have never heard the last words of a dying individual, listen to Eric Garners word as you watch the video of his final moments before his premature death. While entrapped, caged, and surrounded by police officers, Eric said, every time you see me, you want to mess with me. I am tired of it. It stops today. I am minding my business. Please just leave me alone. He was visibly upset and talking but nothing suggested Eric was violent and putting the publics safety in jeopardy at that moment. Some law enforcement individuals lack empathy. Because they have the wherewithal to enforce the law, they do not know when to stop. In the case of Eric Garner, they never stopped until Eric could breathe no more. As several officers used their law enforcement maneuvers to handcuff and arrest Eric, increasingly his voice is barely heard weakly saying, I cant breathe, I cant breathe, I cant breathe.... Eric struggled for breathe as his life abruptly ended at the hands of an apathetic officer. Because the arresting officers lack concern, they never heard Eric. Their only interest was the application of chokehold and other procedures in order to subdue Eric and arrest him. In the process, one officer suffocated Eric whose last words before death I hear as I type, I cant breathe. Erics face was hard-pressed to the footpath. Right there as the video recording continued, Eric Garner lost his life with the words, I cant breathe. Eric can no longer breathe but let everything that has breath stand up for Eric. Before it happened, Eric most likely had a flashback of his entire life. Without a doubt, Eric was tired of it as everyone would if constantly being harassed by law enforcement personnel. He was right when he said, It stops today. The officer will no longer mess with him every time they see him, because it stopped that very day. They never left him alone. The police officers were on top of him until the end. The abuse of Eric has stopped. What has begun is to make sure that his killers receive justice in Erics favor. The breaths of the authorities must blow out the candle of injustice. Eric Garner died wrongfully and those responsible for his death deserve punishment according to the law. Every mess could result to a similar fate like the one Eric suffered. Therefore, the public must watch every step the authorities make and every breath they take. Eric Garner never died in vain.
