Standup comedy performed well is FAR more difficult than any - TopicsExpress

Standup comedy performed well is FAR more difficult than any civilian realizes. It takes decades of dedication to become a master of the craft, and precious few ever achieve that status. What stinks is that not all of those that do are household names. That does not mean they arent brimming with talent however, and thats just the way it is. I had the pleasure of working with an all time master of the craft this week in Ross Bennett. Ross made a dynamic debut on the David Letterman show last year, and it was LONG overdue. Ross has been a true friend and mentor to me for many years. When I lived in Los Angeles he mentored me in how to navigate the scene there, and years later when he lived in New York he showed me around that scene and even arranged some sets for me at the clubs in Manhattan. He also took me to the Friars Club for lunch and a Yankees game. Ill never forget all of those great times, and I try to pass his kindness along to others when I can. Ross is one of the best there is, and he ripped it up all weekend. Those audiences never had a chance, as Rosss wrecking ball was operating on full power. It took a lifetime to polish his skills, and he was a joy to watch. He put on a clinic, and every young comic coming up should know who he is. Hes recording a new CD, and I highly recommend it as Ive just seen the shows he did while recording it. If you havent had the pleasure of discovering Rosss comic brilliance, please check him out. rossbennett. Hes got a newsletter you can sign up for, and hes just in a comedic class by himself. What an artist, and there is NOBODY funnier.
