Stangs one win away! The guys not only got their first ever cup win last night, but this afternoon they got their second. And oh what a win it was. The Mustangs down Washington Catholic 5-1! First half the guys started off with mental missteps and some bad touches on the ball. Even so they went into the half up 2-0. Colton Bennett cut up two defenders and went in on goal and drew first blood. Then Brandon Altop who had to be settled down a bit, also beat 2 defenders at the same time, drove on goal, and then in a unselfish act laid the ball off to Bennett who slotted it past the keeper. Beginning of the 2nd half saw the game become very physical and some no call fouls started to make tempers flare (mine). But a great flick on by Bennett found Jackson Snyder who smoked everyone, and again just slotted it past the keeper. Then Snyder who forgot what type of football he was playing made to hard fouls and received a yellow card. Many of the JV guys came on to rest as many varsity as possible. And they made their mark too. Eli Coatney punched a cross home, and Chris Van Allen cut down the goal line and cool as can be put one into the far side netting. The Washington Catholics managed a gimmee goal at the end. But this game was all Edgewood. The "Stang-Bang" will now face Newcastle, for the right to hoist up the trophy.
