Starting at 6 o’clock with colt’s foot and going clockwise, wild lettuce and clover, wild buckwheat, chickweed (starting to flower) winter cress, lady’s thumb/red shank, curled dock, broad and narrow leaf (common and seaside) plantain, garlic mustard (done flowering, small seed pods visible), and grass. In the center with the dandelion is lamb’s quarters, and in the upper right corner above the curled dock is nightshade, which is poisonous. Wild buckwheat looks a little like another variety of nightshade and one shouldn’t pick it without positive ID. Fool’s parsley, poison hemlock and wild carrot/Queen Ann’s lace, as well as yarrow can be easily confused; the latter two are safe.
