Starting the week out with a huge thank you to all the volunteers - TopicsExpress

Starting the week out with a huge thank you to all the volunteers whove been a part of staffing Concession stand 208 at the last four Mens Basketball games: Nov 14th - This was the first of two weekend games and the first time sales broke over $2100! Thank you Chris C, Bob C, Sarah B., Brenda T, Tyler and Jesse. Way to go team! Nov 16th - This was the second of two weekend games and the first time weve been short people due to both illness and car trouble. But the team that did arrive performed above and beyond, selling over $2100 in concessions with just five people working the stand. Thank you to John G, Hanna G, Bob C, Liz D, and Sue F. (Facility management also shared that sales for these two games far exceeded their expectations for the booth! Clearly, our volunteers are doing something VERY right.) Nov 19th - midweek games are always a challenge with work schedules and parking and more. Not a huge fan turnout for this game but the team still sold over $1500 in concessions this night. Thank you to Chris and Michell C, Rachel K, Stephanie, Emma M, and Bob and Bonnie C for their help. Nov 22nd - this was a VERY late game, starting at 9 pm. And, management did not expect much turnout or sales for the evening. This hardy group proved management wrong, selling nearly $1800 in snacks and beverages. Thank you to Chris and Michell C, Brenda T and Tyler, and Bob and Bonnie C for their help that night. Last but not least, a special thank you to Chris and Michell C who took on the challenge of helping out on very short notice with concession sales at last weeks WIAA Football playoffs. And special in the sense that this booth was outside, in the elements, and the weather last Thursday was not so pleasant. Every time we provide additional help above and beyond our commitment to the basketball games, we earn additional funds for the Pyrs. So do hope youll let Chris and Michell know how much this extra measure is appreciated. We are now a third of the way through the basketball season. We still have several games to staff and are always looking for volunteers. The next game is Wednesday, Dec 3 - and it should be a biggie as the UW Mens team is playing Duke in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. So if you can hope youll join us. And if youre debating doing so, thought it worth passing along that many of the volunteers have shared how much fun it is to work the stand. You stay busy, it gets kinda crazy at times, but the time goes quickly. Yet there are always a lot of laughs, including some interesting moments handling food items including spills and crashes. The selfies at the end of each event do not even come close to conveying just how zany it can get in the stand. For me, perhaps the best part of being a part of this is in getting to know all who have adopted dogs from GPRW or other rescues, or who follow us on this page, or who just want to come and help us out. Everyone Ive met this season while volunteering is simply pretty amazing. It’s a joy to put names with faces and dogs, and even more heartwarming to learn just how much all of you are invested in the breed and in the rescue. And for that, we at GPRW are very grateful indeed.
