Statement from County Clerk candidate Sarah Matheny: County Clerk candidate Sarah Matheny dedicated to campaign October 3, 2014 Yakima, WA—Last month I was wrongfully terminated from the City of Yakima and I will be seeking vindication by clearing my name through litigation. Contrary to erroneous statements by the City of Yakima, I am not being investigated by the State Attorney General and I have confirmed that with the AG’s office. My campaign for Yakima County Clerk has nothing to do with my pending litigation with the City of Yakima. Due to legal and ethical rules for pre-trial publicity, I am unable to fully comment on pending civil litigation against the City of Yakima for wrongful termination and various erroneous deprivations of my 1st and 14th Amendment constitutionally protected civil rights. COMMITTED TO CLERK CANDIDACY I am however, putting all of my efforts toward my campaign for Yakima County Clerk. I bring youth, energy, and experience to the Clerk’s office race. I was a court clerk with the City of Yakima Municipal Court for almost six years where I learned legal procedure, judicial operations, judicial and court technologies, and court administration among many other legal and records management skills. I also bring close to nine years of management and budgeting experience from my prior corporate employment background. My opponent may state that she has “the experience that counts” when in reality it is experience from when she last worked in the judicial arena in 1987. I fully believe that with my unique combination of management, budgeting, and current and up-to-date judicial operations experience, I am the best candidate to be your next Yakima County Clerk.
