Statement from the Texas Department of Transportation: Crews are currently working three crashes on northbound U.S. 59 in Polk County. Both travel lanes are closed and traffic has been moved to the shoulder of the road. One crash involved two 18-wheelers colliding in the area of FM 357, while a second which occurred on the Neches River Relief involves two passenger vehicles. The third crash is on the Neches River Bridge where two passenger vehicles collided. Crews say it may be necessary to shut down the southbound lanes to remove the 18 wheelers from the median. It is expected to take a couple of hours to clear the scenes. As rain continues to fall across East Texas, TxDOT reminds all motorists to keep safety in mind. Slow down and drive to conditions.
