Statistics are what you make of them. CNN reports that crime is in a long slide. but what numbers were used to compute. Crimes committed or crimes solved? Does it reflect plea deals for lesser offenses? Percentage against total population? How about the building case log of most courts, where offenders commit a crime, bail out, commit another, bail out, convicted, probation, etc. I hate statistics.
