(Stefanie) No respect for education 16 July 2014 12:00 Zululand Observer: MY husband owns a business in Hluhluwe and delivers goods to various schools in the rural areas. He took some photos of what he found at one of the schools, but says that this is what he sees at others as well. Although I hate to perpetuate negativity, I feel that perhaps if this is brought to light, something can be done to curb this insane waste of resources and blatant lack of concern over education. What is also a major concern is that many of these schools receive all sorts of assistance from local business on a regular basis to try and improve the state of schooling in the rural areas. How can businesses be expected to continue giving when this is what is done with their generosity? I am an educator at the tertiary level and when one sees this sort of thing it becomes obvious why our students are not able to cope at university! I would love it if you could bring this to the Zululand public’s attention in the hope that this situation can be fixed. EDUCATOR
