Steve Hill: August 31 Sword of Revival For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 There is a movement in the world today to water down the Word of God. There is a humanistic, anti-God philosophy permeating our society, that I liken to a cancer destroying the precious cells in a body. This group of people believe the Bible to be archaic and untrustworthy, but I feel sorry for them. They’re dealing with unchangeable truth. The very Book they’re trying to destroy will come back and destroy them. Missionary Jonathan Goforth declared the Bible’s case with great clarity: The Author of the Bible is being greatly dishonored these days by the doubt cast upon His Word. It must, indeed, be a cause of intense grief to Him that the Book which alone testifies of the Lord Jesus should be so lightly esteemed by man. Unless the Bible is to us the Word of God, our prayers can be no more than sheer mockery. There never has been a revival except where there have been Christian men and women thoroughly believing in and wholeheartedly pleading the promises of God. The Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, is the only weapon which has ever been mightily used in revival.
