Steve and Toni have been clients at JTV for as long as I can remember. Steve is about to set out on his 3rd Ride to Conquer Cancer, raising money for the Peter MacCallum hospital. He sent me in a few pictures, mostly of their pets, but also one of him and his bike. If you want to know more about the Ride to Conquer Cancer, then read on and hear it from Steve, in his own words. If youd like to make a small, medium or large donation towards a good cause, I think youd be hard pushed to find a better cause that this one. Cancer affects a huge percentage of the human population, sure. But it also affects a similarly huge percentage of the animal population, especially amongst companion animals. And most advances in veterinary oncology come via advances in treatment of human cancers.k Heres what Steve has to say: I have now done the Ride to conquer cancer (RTCC) twice and 2014 will be my third ride. The RTCC has changed my life as has cancer. December 1999 is when I found out my wife Toni O’keeffe Bell had breast cancer, 2005 it spread to her bones and in 2011 it spread to her nerves. She has now lost a lot of the use in her right hand. But as everybody that has or had cancer she never gives up hope. This year I have teamed up with Chantelle Linnett who has also been touched by cancer with the sad passing of her mother at a young age of just 12. Together we are “Toni’s Cruiser’s” and we both have a passion for this course. Together we are going to conquer cancer. The RTCC means the world to us as it does to everybody living with cancer. The money raised by this ride enables Peter Mac to do research. With this research brings hope, the hope that one day cancer will be a thing of the past. The 2012 RTCC made history being that it was the largest ever single fund raising event in Australian history. It was wonderful to be a part of this. 2013 was also a great event, I was so proud to ride 2 years in a row. It was so touching to be at the start line for the 2013 ride That it inspired me to signed up for 2014. I am going to try to raise more money this year by being more active in getting my message out about how passionate we are about the RTCC, and How Peter Mac is the only public hospital in Australia that is dedicated to cancer research and all money raised by us does go straight to Peter Mac. Please If you are able to make a donation to our team, just go to the website conquercancer.org.au click on donate, search participant or team name. My team name is “Toni’s Cruiser’s” please help both of us in our efforts to conquer cancer Thank you for your kindness. Yours faithfully Steve Bell and Chantelle Linnett Team “Toni’s Cruiser’s” Ride to Conquer Cancer Participant 2012,2013,2014
