Steve signing in at 7:39 AM. Skies have clouded over and light sprinkles or rain has moved in to our south and west including parts of McDowell. Temperatures are warmer than yesterday due to cloud cover, ranging from 46° to Table Rock to 52° at Burkemont, 50.3° at Burke Weather HQ in Valdese. Expect cloudy skies through late afternoon with an occasional passing sprinkle or brief period of light rain. Temperatures will stay below normal with cloud cover, mainly in the 50s, warming into the lower and middle 60s later this afternoon as the disturbance responsible for todays weather passes to our southeast and skies begin to clear out. After another chilly night tonight with patchy frost possible in places like Little Switzerland and Jonas Ridge, Monday will be a pleasantly cool day with mostly sunny skies, afternoon temperatures around 71°. As high pressure builds in from the Gulf of Mexico, temperatures will continue to warm up each day, reaching the mid to upper 80s by Thursday. A back door front crosses North Carolina Friday before settling in South Carolina Saturday. A few thunderstorms are possible with the passage of the front Friday but there doesnt appear to be much opportunity to draw in a lot of moisture so organized severe storm activity looks limited. Next weekend begins with partly sunny conditions and temperatures a little cooler but still at or slightly above normal in the low 80s.
