Sticking with Paul, todays scripture and message come from 2 - TopicsExpress

Sticking with Paul, todays scripture and message come from 2 Corinthians 1:8 “For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.” Have you ever played that game of trust? You stand with your back toward a person and your arms crossed in front of you and you fall straight back with the assurance the person behind you is going to catch you. Sometimes the person from behind would have their arms really low and make you feel you were going to hit the ground. If you moved your arms, you lost. It was tough, especially as a child or adolescent for obvious reasons. As we grew older we became more trustworthy. Teaching a child to swim we might have them jump off the side into your arms and though they may ask are you sure you are going to catch me, you know you are not going to say “oops” and move away. You know you can be trusted and it is of the utmost importance your child trust you. We know through every single word in the Bible we can trust God without one iota of a doubt; today I want to ask you; Can God trust you? I am quite sure I personally could approach any of you and asked if I could trust you; every one of you would say of course I could and let me know you are a good person, you dont lie or cheat or steal, you go to church, etc.. Then I am Going to say can God trust you. He and you alone are the ones who know your heart. I am sure if life is running along smooth you pretty much have trust in God but suppose you receive bad news. Someone close is terminally ill, one of your children have run afoul of the law, a storm has ruined your home, your having marital problems or your boss doubles the workload but not the pay. We have all at some point been under some sort of spiritual attack and it is here going through this that I want to ask you..Can God trust you. When things turn bad we blame everyone but the one the Word of God says came to steal, kill, and destroy. God does not want us to be ignorant about anything. This is why we have His Word. The Holy Spirit is here that we would have understanding of that Word. Paul is saying here that he has been through the storm he has made it through the bad. He is saying that trials and tribulation will come, and sometimes it can be almost to much to bear. Satan and his band of demons have no intention of allowing you to be successful and at peace. Paul was simply saying that through everything and at his lowest and feeling he could no longer go on God delivered him, set him free. He is saying that God could trust him when the storm of life was raging. God wants to know are you going to stand and fight and go to battle or are you going to take off and run. If you saw someone bullying someone are you going to step in or are you going to look and walk away? God needs to know in troublesome times are you going to stand, keep the faith and hold on. Look at Job, he lost everything. All of his livestock, his wife, his children, everything; but through it all, he stood firm in his faith and what happened in the end, he doubled in everything. The only thing which causes you to want to run is the attack of our adversary, the only one who can do it, Satan and his demons. When we are going through these hard times there are a few things we can do to help us stay firm and have God trust us. Look back to what Solomon says in Ecclesiastes chapter 4 and the value of a friend. That is correct; talk to and confide in a fellow christian the bible says 2 are better than one and if one falls the other should lift him up. We are to rely on our Christian brothers and sisters when we are going through hard times. God sees we are working through it and gains trust in us. Another thing to do and we are instructed to do this anyway without ceasing and that is to pray. We are always comforted when we go to God in prayer, this also lets him know we are seeking help and advice and this gains trust also. It says in the old testament people would tear their clothes and fall on their faces before God. I tell you you can do the same, it makes no difference your appearance, what you are doing or where you are, take it to God in Prayer. Another thing you can do is give up something for God, it could be food, the Television, the computer, your phone, anything...as long as it is sincere and you bring it before God. All of these things lets God know he can trust you. Rest assured God has never and will never fail you. You have the ability to let him know he can trust you. Will yourself to praise God before, during and after the battle. Psalms 34:1-3 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His Name together. I leave you with the question once more..Can God trust you? May God bless each of you and have a super day!!
