Still on the subject of a word I find myself. A group of letters - TopicsExpress

Still on the subject of a word I find myself. A group of letters comprise a word, we all know that. But the changing of a singular letter changes the entire meaning of a word. Again, we all know this to be true. But what if two letters are changed and the meaning stays the same? How can this be? Yet it can and sometimes does. Is there hope then that if we change three letters that the words can have the same meaning? I confuse myself trying to think of such words as these, but I do in fact find them. Can you?
