Stingers 1 Adwick Allstars 0 Stingers & Adwick played out the final group game in the Second Division Cup on a fine morning at Coulman Road. With both teams having done enough to qualify for the semis there was nothing riding on this game, however it seemed no one had told the players, both teams playing a full part in a cracking encounter. The first half was a pretty even affair with Stingers having the better of the chances, they didnt quite have their shooting boots on though & with a good keeper in the Adwick goal the first half would end goal-less. Stingers were doing the right things despite it not quite happening for them & the half time message was to keep the faith. The second half was when Stingers really piled the pressure on, Adwick rarely broke although they did rattle the woodwork on one occasion. Stingers would themselves rattle the frame on three occasions, the keeper making endless saves as the temperature of the game rose & rose, medics were put on standby for some of the crowd. The home team were playing exceptional football now, Adwick remained fully committed as the tackles flew in from both teams. As the clock ran down, the chances came & went & a frustrating draw looked on the cards. Stingers re-wrote the script though & the finale would climax with the tireless ALEX YOUNG robbing the Adwick defence before sending the crowd into raptures, curling the ball around the plucky keeper to win the game with only a minute of the game remaining. Stingers march onto the semis, not the emphatic scoreline of the week before but an equally impressive performance showing great discipline & courage. Hopefully striker Ryan Chappell will be fit again, a casualty of a bruising encounter, coming off with an ankle knock in the first half. Ft Stingers 1 Adwick 0
