Stirling United Recreation Club vs Assumption English School. Final Score 5-3. Scorers: Syafiq (1), Kavi (1), Royzat (2) and Ruban (1). Today, SURC held a small meeting for the newly formed squad of players to be introduced to the management and club president, Mr K.S Maniam. It was carried out before our final pre-season friendly at Clementi Woods Sec. Despite the bad pitch conditions, the referee decided to carry on with the game. With close to 20 players turning up today, the manager was comfortable to make selections or any changes during the game. With the constant struggle to make a proper pass and tackles due to the horrific pitch condition, SURC finally broke the deadlock early into the game, through Syafiq. Kavi then scored an unexpected goal, coming in from near the corner flag area with an intentional cross. Royzat scored just before half time to make it 3-0 during the break. 2nd half saw some changes in the SURC line up. Even then, SURC showed no mercy and went on to dominate mostly throughout the whole half scoring another 2 goals. Even though we conceded 3 goals that could have been easily prevented, the keeper was not to be blamed because it was not his natural position and he had volunteerd to stand in goal for the team. He was non-other than team manager, Mr Jay. We went on to win the game 5-3, despite some rough and unfair challenges at times during the game by opponents. Its all part of the game and most importantly is that we played fantastic football. Next game will be our first Hermoso FA League fixture on Sunday, 11 January 2015. Cmon SURC!
