Stop Spamming me with that facebook messenger post.. JUST STOP!!! if you dont want the messenger then open facebook in a browser.. stop being conspiracy theorists.. almost all apps use these processes.. also heres a breakdown 1- Change the state of the network connection: If your wifi or cellular connection is off (say phone is in airplane mode) and you try to send a message, the app can ask you if youd like to enable wifi or cell connection (not so scary). 2- Call phone numbers and send SMS: Well, duh, its a messaging app, so obviously you need to be able to make calls and send messages from the app, so this functionality is required. 3- Record audio, take pictures and videos: Again, its a messaging app. Without this, you could not send audio or picture messages because the app couldnt open any of your media files if you ask it to, so the app would be useless. 4- Read the phones call log: This is so when you go to message someone, the app can tell you the last time you called them. 5- Read contact data: Again, its a MESSAGING app, so if you want to send a message to a contact, the app has to be able to see your contacts. 6- Read personal profile info stored on the device: This is necessary for just about any app, it has to know whos phone it is on in order to properly interface with the user and communicate with other users (again, because its a messaging app). How could any messaging app work if it doesnt know who you are, meaning who is sending the messages? 7- Gather list of other accounts or apps: How else would it know you have an Instagram app so it can integrate with Instagram (or your photos app, etc.), or integrate back with your existing Facebook account? NOTE: ALL of these features have to be activated by the user (telling the app to make a call, send a text, send a picture, look up a contact, send a photo from Instagram, etc). Facebook CANNOT just decide to make this happen from there end, nor do they have any reason to. This just makes it so the app doesnt have to ask are you sure every time you want to do something. Also, nearly every messaging app in existence has the EXACT SAME PERMISSIONS, and has to
