Stopped in at Matamata Airfield for some lunch. Had no sooner - TopicsExpress

Stopped in at Matamata Airfield for some lunch. Had no sooner landed, then this rather ungainly aircraft took to the skies literally and started performing the most amazing wheelies (slide turns) in the air at 100 above the strip. For a finale the pilot disappeared away from the runway , did a turn behind a group of Macrocarpas just off the runway, then returned and landed in about 30 metres. An amazing piece of flying. The culprit was Peter Ryan, a well known pilot and instructor at Matamata. We then went and had lunch with him at his local Cafe. Very entertaining.
