Name of Project: Feasibility Study and Detailed Design of Additional Carriageway of Lakhpass-Noushki Section of N–40 (113 Km) Year: April, 2010 – December 2010 Location: Balochistan-Pakistan Client: National highway Authority, Pakistan Main Project Features: The project road from Lakpass to Noushki is a section of the main Quetta – Taftan National Highway (N–40). This is the main link connecting Pakistan with Iran, Turkey and onward to Europe. The Project road passes from rolling and mountainous terrain with number of sharp curves and is in poor condition. Various Seasonal Nallahs also cross the road alignment. Year: 2008 – 2009 Location: KPK -Pakistan Client: National highway Authority, Pakistan Main Project Features:Alpuri–Besham Section of N–90 located in Shangla District is the major road connecting Swat Valley through Koza Banda with Kohistan Valley and Karakurum highway which connects Pakistan with China. The Project road passes entirely through a hilly terrain with steep grades and poor existing geometry prone to land slides and heavy rainfall. The project was funded by ADB. Main features of the project include design of Major Wadi Bridges having bridges length upto 700 m, Seven Interchanges (Semi directional, cloverleaf, partial cloverleaf, diamond), flyovers, underpasses, utility crossings, services areas, rest areas and weigh stations. The proposed expressway passes through mountainous and rolling terrain. Pakistan Main Project Features: The project funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) included various strategic roads which were damaged by devastating Earthquake of October, 2005 in Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhhwa Province of Pakistan. The project objective was to bridge the life to normalcy and to generate economic activities. Hundred bridges are included. The project area including districts of Swat/Kalam attracts tourists from inland and abroad due to its pleasant climate and natural scenery. Roads pass through mostly mountainous terrain containing hard and medium strata. Different Nallahs are also crossing the alignment for which a number of causeways and bridges were designed and constructed. Different streams of Glaciers and springs in the way of alignment which were taken care off during the design.
