Streets of Monaghan 5km Road Race 2013 Monaghan Phoenix Athletic Club and Monaghan Credit Union are pleased to announce the annual running of the Streets of Monaghan 5k on Friday 6th September at 7pm. The race is now a regular fixture on the calendar and will once again coincide with the Monaghan Jazz Festival. The event will take place on a two lap circuit of Monaghan town, beginning on the Glen Road outside St Louis Convent. Registration will take place from 5:45 pm in St Louis Convent Gym on the Glen Road. Refreshments will be served after the race. The 5km course will take the competitors in a clockwise loop along Dawson Street and the North Road, before turning right on to Glaslough Street, Dublin Street, and down the Mall Road before embarking on a second lap. As usual we will have prizes for the first 3 male and female finishers, as well as prizes for junior and master category winners. Following on from the success of our juvenile race last year, there will again be a juvenile race for children born in 1998 or later. This race will consist of one lap of the town, with trophies being awarded to the top 3 finishers in the under 12 (born 2002 and 2003), under 14 (born 2000 and 2001) and under 16 (Born 1998 and 1999). The juvenile race will start just 5 minutes before the start of the senior race.
