Strength Novolog appears to be stronger than Humalog, especially for insulin pump users. Patients must cut back on dosages when switching from Humalog to Novolog to prevent hypoglycemic episodes. Peak Novolog reaches peak activity at 52 minutes after injection, compared to 75 minutes for Humalog. Longevity In July 2009, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a labeling change for Novolog that allowed insulin pump users to store it in their pump reservoirs for up to 6 days.
