Stress is certainly a factor with back pain. The adrenalin arousal - TopicsExpress

Stress is certainly a factor with back pain. The adrenalin arousal serves to put the skeletal musculature on red-alert and this equates to a persistent low-grade muscle clench right throughout the body. Its never easy for a physical practitioner like me to know the stress levels people are enduring, although we become pretty adroit at picking up the signals. We can also tell pretty quickly if someone is prone to catastrophizing (see below) which magnifies the effects on the muscles . . . and compresses the spine. Usually, knowing you are in safe hands helps calms everything down and stops the wild thoughts. More importantly, being given some understanding whats wrong, the way the spine works, and how to put it right is even more potent in defusing everything and letting the pain float away. Knowledge - and by that I means scientifically based information - is the greatest panacea of all. This is why I provide so much information and spend so much time explaining.
