Structure FIre at Boyers Tavern - Town of Hartland Hartland, NY - On Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 0251 hours, the Niagara County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a possible structure fire at Boyers Tavern, 8757 Ridge Road in the Town of Hartland. The Hartland Volunteer Fire Company, the Middleport Police Department and the Niagara County Sheriffs Office were dispatched to the scene with the Middleport Police arriving first. The fire was confirmed and Middleport Police Officer Jeffrey Swick evacuated one resident from a house on the east side of the tavern. The building sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage, however; there is no estimate of the damage amount at this time. The Barker Volunteeer Fire Company also responded to the scene to assist in fighting the fire with the Middleport Volunteer Fire Company placed on standby. Niagara County Cause and Origin and The Niagara County Crime Scene Identification Unit were called to the scene to determine cause of the fire and document the scene.
