Student: Miss Wright, I dont see the purpose of going to school. - TopicsExpress

Student: Miss Wright, I dont see the purpose of going to school. I dont see the purpose for the need for government. Me: Thats interesting. Why do you feel that way? Student: Well, I dont need to go to school to get an education, why should I bother? Me: You are absolutely right! You dont need to go to school to get an education but would you go and read a bunch of books if it werent required of you? Student: Yeah! Maybe.... Probably not. Me: Exactly! Student: But are you telling me you have to go to school to know all of that? Me: Not necessarily. How would you exposed to it otherwise? What would you study? How would you have learned to read and write? How would you know how to think critically? How would you be exposed to the world outside of your neighborhood? Student: Ok. Good point. But why do I need the government? Whats the point of it? This whole system is BS! I dont believe in it, at all. Or school! Or being part of society! Me: Hmmmm... interesting! Then you dont believe in playing basketball either, because that exists because we have a society and rules. Very few fellas get picked up to play in the pros by someone just finding them on the street. They usually go to a college and get drafted. But since you dont believe in all of those things then your dream to be a basketball player isnt realistic. Student: Oh.... Then maybe I believe in them. I just dont like them! smh
