Students Music Submitted: In the inbox this morning trying to catch up on this now. Weve got none other than our good friend Alexander in with this one. When people submit Music for me to check out, I try always to think of new ideas for them to experiment with to try out for themselves, as apposed to saying this is what you need to do! As these are all just ideas to be played with, and what I would probably do with it if it was my own piece, just from a quick listen point of view I hear things, I think of things, then share the things Im thinking from what I hear :) So here ya go for some little added ones for ya Today to play with: 1 - At the beginning of the Track, instead of starting as it is, Drop maybe a few impact sounds in with some Reverb & Delay just to introduce the track with more of a Bang 2 - Low Pass Filter this synth sound in at the start for maybe 16 - 32 Bars 3 - Introduce a Clap at the 30sec mark when you do the High Pass Sweep to start building towards that drop. Play the Clap sound on every Beat per Bar ( you could follow up towards the drop by doubling the Claps) 4 - I would maybe try and find some FX Sweep sounds, for building up to the drop point which last around 16 - 32 Bars. As the FX Sounds are Sweeping, start high pass filtering and opening the Reverb on the Synth sound so that it starts to travel out into the distance whilst theres momentum coming from the FX Sweep - this creates some tension! 5 - At the point where the Synth stops, have more sounds layered there such as Rev Crashes, Cymbal Crashes, Impacts with Plenty of Reverb for dramatic purposes. You could even try adding some Delay to the Synth just before it stops so that it fades out, giving it a nice Smooth Transition. 6 - Nice Drop - Im diggin that beat by the way :) What I am thinking there is after 8 Bars of the Drop has played, keep the momentum going by adding a Tom Drum Loop in. In those kinds of tracks its very common to have a Tom Drum pattern in the off beats of the Kick Drum, that would sound good with the right Tom straight after 8 Bars of the Drop. You create a groove that fits with the beat 7 -Around the 1min 38sec mark, I love Big Snare Drum Rolls with tonnes of Reverb, causing more tension and helps with making the listener aware of the drop coming again. I heard a Snare in that section. Make it more in your face, add Saturator to it, maybe even layer to have more than 1 Snare playing at the same time and shift the notes so that they are a little off, and not all hitting at the exact same time 8 - 2min 22secs - at these points when dropping out kicks and having little breaks, I would always grab Rev Cymbals and Crashes for these Sections to help with the transition in the Track, when doing things such as this. Maybe even try out adding another FX Sweep in there at that point for coming back into the Drop. These are just guidelines to help ya out for now, hopefully help trigger some other ideas to to consider when making your beats. I like the idea, nice track vibes. You can try out some of these if you wish and let me know how it goes In the meantime... Have a good one and if ya need any help with anything else at all - Hit me up! :) Paul.
