Students bring world radio record home Student Radio Station Shock Radio has broken the world record for the longest radio show, bringing the title back to the UK. The team of students from the University of Salford completed an 85 hour long marathon radio broadcast at 10pm on Monday the 14th of April. Chris Moyles, who broke the a record for the longest radio show as it stood in 2011, tweeted the team to wish them good luck. Shock Radio is now awaiting confirmation from Guinness that they have broken a world record for the “longest marathon for a radio music show”. A station spokesperson said: “This is an incredible achievement and a huge thanks must go to George Willis and Andy Cox who went without sleep in an attempt to raise over £2500 for The Christie. “Eighty Five hours of solid radio produced some incredible moments and quite a few renditions of the banana song but Shock Radio are incredibly proud to bring the record back to the UK after it was held by Dubai radio station Hit 96.7 FM.” George Willis added: “It was a good time had by all and I’m really looking forward to getting some sleep.”
