Students in Kindergarten classes at Clarksville Elementary, are answering the question, “Why are trees important to us?” In order to discover the impact trees have on our lives, students are exploring the life cycle of the tree and the products it supplies. Students have heard from outside experts, conducted experiments, journaled, and integrated music, art, and math activities. As a result of this project, students will cultivate a desire of protecting trees and their environment as they begin to comprehend the immense value of trees and their direct impact on life. On October 23, the kindergarten classes participated in a celebration of learning where Mr. Kyle Parshall from American Forest Management helped the students plant a tree donated by Conservation Forestry, LLC. The kindergarten classes decided to plant the tree in memory of , Keysean Green, a student we lost earlier this year. Members of Keysean’s family were invited to participate in the dedication. The family was also presented with a poem written by Mrs. Crowder’s class and read by second grader, Miss Lauren Greene. The students are very excited about their contribution to ensuring Keysean’s memory continues to grow here at Clarksville Elementary!
