Stumbled upon a name I hadnt heard in *YEARS!!!!* while goofing off on YouTube..... The name is my friend, Ballaké Sissoko.... An absolutely incredible Kora player, from Mali. Back when I lived in Alabama (Fort Rucker)...... I spent a LOT of time, performing in New Orleans... Ballaké and I bumped into each other - as I was called in to sit in with another legendary player -- Taj Mahal. The three of us would start off Tajs concerts - with the three of us, just improvising stuff on stage. Taj on guitar, Ballaké on Kora, and myself on either on Tenor Sax or EWI. It was absolute bliss while it lasted - but, alas, I finally made the decision to leave the active duty military - and, as such, move back to Wisconsin and join the Minnesota National Guard. Man! Seems like a world ago...... Its so good to see him again! :-)
