Subhas Ch. Bose was greatly influenced by Swami Vivekanand. In the formative years of His life, Swamiji had a great impact on His consciousness. It is unknown to many that He had a great penchant for mystics exuded by His pull towards spirituality. In his words, from An Indian Pilgrim He says - I was barely fifteen when Vivekananda entered my life. Then there followed a revolution within and everything was turned upside down. It was, of course, a long time before I could appreciate the full significance of his teachings or the greatness of his personality, but certain impressions were stamped indelibly on my mind from the outset. Both from his portraits as well as from his teachings, Vivekananda appeared before me as a full-blown personality. In todays distorted political environment, what is the guidance for our politicians ? Where is the spiritual influence to discipline them or their supporters ? There seems to be only one criteria of evaluation in this society and that is money. Ill gotten money rules the country. Conclusively we see the denigration of our society in entirety at the behest of these corrupt leaders lacking the spiritual guidance and lifes discipline, that reminds us more of Him.
