Sublime and the ridiculous seem to be an apt summary of yesterdays quality of play dished out by Colombia and Brazil respectively. Epitaphs are perhaps already being composed for Brazil and epithtets sharpened to stilleto points for their failure to play Jogo Bonito. Critics should hold their horses since i envisage that the scenario could play out differently in the quarters against Colombia. A firestorm of criticism will now break out over the Brazilian team. This pillorying by the press and public will perhaps galvanise the players acting as a red rag while the lowered expectations of the country will possibly release the crushing pressure on the team and enable them to play freely while expressing their formidable talents without the fear of failure. So those who are putting their money on Colombia may be in for a surprise when they find a Brazil totally transformed from the team which scrapped against Chile playing on the field. Or is this my wishful thinking ?
