Submitted by X Short history-- Prior enlisted service, commissioned in 1988. New, cute wife decides it looks fun, and enlists in National Guard, and goes to Basic Training at Fort Dix shortly after I get commissioned. 9 weeks later, I travel to Fort Dix to see her graduate as an honor grad in her BCT Company. The before she graduates (Family Night), I show up at her Company area with the other family members, in civvies. Her Company marches over after chow, the Company is released to the Platoon Drill Sergeants, and they release their Soldiers to see their families. PFC X, my lovely wife, sees me, runs over to me, and gives me a big hug and kiss. Her PLT Drill SGT ( DS Papercut) strolls over, and renders a perfect salute and greeting of the day-- Good Evening, sir. He then looks over at PFC X, and says X, did you recognize this man as an Officer? PFC X- Yes, Drill Sergeant DS Papercut - Did you salute this officer? PFC X-- No Drill Sergeant DS Papercut- Drop, X PFC X- One, Drill Sergeant, Two Drill Sergeant DS Papercut- These arent for me, X PFC X looks confused for a moment-- One sir, Two sir, Three sir.... DS Papercut smiles at me, and says heh, heh, pretty funny, huh, sir... I shook his hand and congratulated him for doing a great job forming American Soldiers. Major X, Ret.
