Sugar or fat?? Wow, you really have to wonder sometimes where or how our conventional health professionals are educated. Body + Soul did a segment on the weekend about sugar. David Gillespie from Sweet Poison says after endless diets, quitting sugar was the answer to losing 40 kg. He now eats bacon and eggs for breakfast. The dietitian who was interviewed said, There’s also a belief that sugar converts into body fat faster than other foods but that’s not true. Dietary fat converts to body fat 10 times faster than carbs. Wow! This dietitian is a spokesperson for one of the largest health authorities in Australia. I wish when they made these statements they could explain HOW it happens. What is the mechanism through which dietary fat is converted to fat in the body? They wouldnt be able to tell us that since there is none. However, we can share the mechanism by which excess sugar and carbohydrates convert to body fat. It is simple. We use insulin to transport glucose to where it needs to go in the body. We can only use or store a limited amount of glucose at any one time. When we eat more than we can use or store, we generally store the excess as fat. The idea that fat makes us fat is actually a very new one. Back in the early 1900s, we all knew carbs made us fat. Actually, back in the 1940s, a group of farmers heard the very new idea that fat made us fat, so they decided to fatten their pigs with saturated fat. To their surprise, the pigs lost weight and became more active. This is why we need to bring back the fat! #bringbackthefat
