Summary of Today’s Message: January 19, 2014 Speaker: Pastor Anthony Odugunwa Message Title: “In the Beginning, there was Unity” Bible Passage: Romans 16:17 – 20 God expect unity among His children, without unity we cannot achieve more. The Lord wants us to collapse the wall of disunity. In the beginning, the sun, the moon, the star, and every creature work together in unity. Causes of Disunity 1. Spirit of Pride – Ephesian 4:11 – 13. • Pride is a great destroyer. Proud people cannot reach their goals. • God has given us different gifts and abilities. As a child of God, focus on your calling and pray for the grace of God. • Pride can make us bankrupt. • Pride can prevent brethren from fellowshipping together. • God has put something in your life that can be a blessing to others. What is your life doing to others? God has sent you to be a blessing to people. As you set your goals this year, may you receive the ability to help others and to do exploit in Jesus name. Amen! • Listen to the voice of God and humble yourself before Him. 2. Unforgiven spirit - Colossians 3:13 • “Your level of greatness is your level of forgiveness.” • We are different in our attitude to forgiveness. • Be the son of your father; find it in your heart to forgive those who trespass against you. • The only way our neighbors and people around us can testify to God in us is through true forgiveness. 3. Lone Ranger Spirit – Genesis 1: 1-3. • Watch out for lone ranger spirit, fellowship is important! • You cannot fight the battle alone; you cannot achieve much in walking alone. • You need someone and there is power in unity & fellowship with brethren! 4. Die to self - Galatians 2:20, Luke 9:23 • “Self is me, myself, and I” Deny yourself and follow God! • You cannot see much of God in the life of those who are filled with self. • You need to be dead to self. A dead person does not have the will of his or her life. The question is: who is turning your life? Is it God? • This year, God is set to do a great thing to those who love Him, committed to Him, and serving Him faithfully. Finally brethren, as go this week, pray to God to give you grace to love Him more and be committed to Him. Commit your goals to Him, pray to God to help you fulfil your destiny, pray for a sudden light from heaven to brighten the purpose of God in your life and be faithful to Him. Your expectations shall never be caught short in Jesus name. AMEN!
