Summer Soulstice 8 : Not that anyone ever needs proof about the kind of spirit that seems to envelope our scene at times, but should you ever need to prove a point, you need look no further than the event that is SUMMER SOULSTICE. It may sound corny, but it really does seem to get better every year. The DJs an artists all played out of there skins yesterday, whether you love your line-dancing to Soulboy & Jazzfunk Classic by the main stage, or Classic & Soulful House in the Club Tent....the place just jumpd all day. But I would just like to point out that when you part with you hard earned cash and you look forward to one of the best events on the calendar, your not handing your money over to some well oiled corporate machine that doesnt care, your handing it over to normal everyday mums, dads, friends and hard working normal people who give up many many hours throughout the year to make sure this event is the best it can be.....and these people are ALL unpaid volunteers. When Gilo and Jamie Topham got together with a few friends and just wanted to put a gig on so no one would ever forget their mate Andy Weekes, no one ever knew it would turn into the event it has now become.......and that is just amazing. Well over 4000 of the most wonderful likeminded members of the Soul Family gathering yesterday in a small field in Barnet yesterday, with every single penny of that hard earned cash going to the local Cherry Lodge Cancer Care Home...and everyone of you played your part. So PLEASE remember, you might lose a jumper, you might wait 20 minutes for a cab, you may even get off the bus at the wrong stop...who knows lol......but there are far more important things in life right ?!?! It rained a little, it shone a lot, but we were all there to enjoy it and long may that continue....we are truly blessed. So to Gilo, Jamie and all the people behind the scenes, you are brilliant and thank you for letting me play a small part in a very special cause. :)
