Sums up my idea perfectly Taking a chance at what I love. Ive tried the safe job, and 3 years and countless rejections later Ive given up on the safe job, and am aspiring to do what I love. It may not be the most secure, the most popular, the most successful job, but if it all goes belly up and it fails, I will be able to hold my head up and say at least I tried. My passion for my job, not my hobby or some side project I do to fill in the gaps, my JOB, keeps me going. Its the reason I keep working my ass off to succeed and finish my course. Ive worked hard to get this far, and I will work harder to get where I want to be. I want my kids to see me try, to see me get off my butt day in, day out to do this. I want them to see rejections and downfalls so they know the world wont hand them what they want on a silver platter. Everything I do is for love. Family, friends, work and most importantly, my kids. Todays rejection, I know, is one of many to come. I was told outright what I do doesnt fit into the niche that is the Renew Newcastle program. To my face. Which hurt. Quite a bit admittedly. But did I cry? No. Did I tell myself this is it, the end? No. You know what I did? I walked out of there with my head held high because now, I can do it myself. Off my own back. Without restraints and restrictions. Without having to fit a particular mold. Like that would happen anyway, thats the opposite of what I want. The Renew program is all about the artists. If your not an artist and your work doesnt fit into a particular criteria, youre out. So when it fails due to the competition of every artist they gather to sell all the same thing for all the same prices to bring life back into the CBD, Ill be sitting behind my work station in my own shop, making my own money, following my own dreams, with my own ideas and individual creativity, laughing my tits off at them. Until then. Going to keep going on doing what I love.
