Sunday, Aug. 25. Wendy reporting on our weekend at Queen Lake with Seth, Kris and Eli. Dan & I picked up Kris & Eli at their house to take them to QL so Seth could have some much-needed time off. Kris commandeered the front seat, so I happily sat in back with Eli. We were playing a mix CD and Judy Collins came on singing her beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace”. Kris sang every word with her and stayed on key better than I have heard in like forever! She also enjoyed Revival in Belfast doing Days of Elijah. It was quite late when we got to the cabin, so there wasn’t much to do but go to bed. Sat. a.m., Kris showed me that she had a “pimple” on her left eye. Remember two weeks ago she had a bad sty in her right eye? It appears she has another one coming. Please pray that this one will not be as bad. Seth arrived around noon, and we had fun swimming, fishing, paddle boating, etc. Not everyone did every activity, but that’s how we spent our afternoon. I was reading and asked Kris if there was something she would like to read with me. She went in and got a young reader’s version of the Wizard of Oz. When I asked her if she wanted me to read to her, or if she wanted to take turns reading pages, she let me know that she just wanted to read it to herself. So we sat there beside each other reading our own books. She read for quite awhile, but once she put it down, she didn’t pick it back up again. At one point, Kris got very angry at Eli over something that would not have bothered her before all this happened. I tried to intervene and tell her Eli was ok. She made an angry gesture with her hands in fists, and went into the cabin. A few minutes later, she came out of the cabin and told me she was sorry for getting angry. I thanked her and told her we all get angry sometimes, but that she needed to tell Eli that she was sorry, too. She went over to him, and before I knew it they were hugging and telling each other that they loved them. I don’t know if shw has apologized to anyone before, but it was a first for me. We looked at her albums of family pictures and had some good laughs. Twice we went out to restaurants, and today we even went to an antiques store. We also looked at all the many, many cards she has received during her illness. She has a very hard time understanding, remembering, and accepting that she has been in the hospital and very sick. When she was reading one letter in particular, I told her how very many people, many she doesn’t even know, have been praying for her. She looked at me and said, “And, my eye was healed!” I know many, many of you prayed for her eye two weeks ago, but to her, that is the only thing that needed prayer. Well, folks, now you have another opportunity to pray for her eye!
