Sunday Devotion: Read Psalm 119:33-40. Intense desire to know God’s will and way are a theme in this Psalm. The author continually beseeches the Lord to illuminate his mind to the truth so that he can walk in obedience to the Lord’s will. The battle to walk by the Spirit and not by the flesh is a daily war for all believers. How would you rate the psalmist’s devotion to stand firm upon God’s statutes? Notice V 35. Ultimately, God must change our hearts and give us new life if we are ever to become righteous. Even after initially becoming a new person through faith in Christ, believers must continue to rely on God’s grace and empowerment to walk in truth. Memorize Luke 9:23. We are called to endure the death of our sinfulness, repel selfishness, and pursue Jesus. Let it be!
