Sunday, July 6, 2014 - Supt. Murry R. Johnson Message: Stir Up the Gift, that Gift that’s within you. Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:6, 7 (6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.) Message is twofold: Communion with the Holy Spirit incorporated with stir up the gift, that gift that’s within you. In verse six, He command him or gave him the command, want to push or give some, but he said you, stir it up. This bowl I’m holding, instrument represents the body, the holder. You holding gift. Gift is in you. If save, know Jesus, He put something in you to help build the kingdom. Is there anybody that feels like God has given you nothing? If God placed something in you and you not doing, you disobey. If place something in you, stir that gift up… Prayer, reading His Word, putting into action… If give to teach, God will give you what’s needed. If help, you will find yourself helping someone… Paul is telling Timothy, I put it into remembrance. I’m putting it into remembrance. God, I’m given you… If fail to obey, you have disobeyed, need to ask God to forgive you. Look at sin of commission, but the sin of omission is just as bad… I’m responsible. We don’t take it seriously. I can sing, but I have to be pulled on [to do it]. But God wants us to stir up, do willingly, gladly, often, as He commands. Need to have communion with God through Holy Spirit. He brings all things to remembrance. When deem necessary, He bring back – this time needed – to us. He is our Comforter, simplify our lives. 2 Corinthians 13:11-14; Gave grace, love of God, communion with the Holy Ghost. When got good communion with somebody, then you know their will… When we begin to commune, need communication, the Holy Spirit brings about. The Holy Spirit will utter what we don’t know to pray about. Find ourselves doing it, not draw back. Spirit - Ought to do to the glory of God, get out of yourself, your selfishness – me, myself and I. There’s a scripture on how to treat one another. Try to do better to you than to me, trying to please you. I try to do things for you and you try to do things for me, then we get alone. But only one way, you are going to get tired - I’m a quit. If show love, show love back – they love me. Need to practice - we practice ball – practice righteousness, to become better. Doing things, right thing, then do better. But when get tough love... As long as God give message, give package. Mail carrier delivers package, don’t open. Something wrong if receive mail that’s open. When give package, I’m that one that opens to give to you and He give you heart and mind to accept it. God wants to simplify your life. You know the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. Verse seven (2 Tim. 1) “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” God has not given spirit of fear. Use your gift. There is certain knowledge, gives us to use it. When He gives, put power. Fail to exercise that gift. Fail to exercise, lay there. Stir it up. Mix like making cake. Don’t like each ingredient by itself, but stir it up. Baking mixture: love, joy, peace, long-suffering… Then when get in oven, have to stay there. A whole house to take you through it; well baked cake. Because went through, we will be a vessel of honor. Sound mind - person acting foolish have lost me. Unclean spirit, devil wants to put unclean spirit, wants to put him in you - Acts 8:4-8. Remember man in tomb [Matt 8:28-34; Mark 5:1-20; Luke 8:26-39] People couldnt get along with. When Jesus come by… look at physical to reveal the spiritual, brings about change. Things come out from us… Holy Spirit needs to be in every area of our lives. Help us with our communion. John 20:19. Have to receive Holy Spirit… and surrender our lives and our self to Him. He wants the whole body. He wants our hand, knows heart. 1 Corinthians 2:11, 12. Taught by the Holy Spirit, be in place feel like don’t fit in. Something doesnt agree with, have to take a stand. Looking for those to take stand with me, those with Spirit. God didnt give spirit of fear. Titus 3:3-7. Around mess, tends to get on you… We need a communion with God. Get up and start doing what He wants. Holy Spirit wants to renew, use and remind us. Maintain that joy. Remember, told about joy - difference between happiness and joy. That’s why need joy… 1 Thessalonians 1:2-5. Holy Spirit takes away our excuses. I’m young, use that as excuse, old will find another excuse. But devil will use something else -got temptation for every age. Gift wrapped in different color, different size bows. Jesus with accept. He will make a way out of. Holy Spirit, navigator in Christian rim, Spirit tries to draw us, to try to get us to turn around. Do 180° degree. Closing, stir up the Gift that’s within you, if don’t have Holy Spirit, God wants to give to you. When God wants to bless you, don’t reject it and He blesses you through people. If you don’t want me to have it, don’t offer it to me. Minister told me on time you holding back their blessing when you don’t let them bless you, if they want to bless you, let them. How many God [in person] has come down and gave something? Lord wants to bless us. Accept the blessing God has for you. Then be thankful for it- then may give you more. Must be thankful, appreciative, if call us to do it, He will see us through it. Because He’s able to do everything He promises.
