Sunday, September 24, 1944 Following a ninth-inning brawl in Game 3 and Baltimores comeback victory in Game 4 to tie the series, a record local crowd of 32,913 turned out for Game 5 of the International League semifinals between the Baltimore Orioles and the visiting Buffalo Bisons. The game took place at Municipal Stadium, a football facility that was converted for baseball after Oriole Park was destroyed by a fire (pictured) on July 4, 1944. The Orioles lost the game, 4-2, but went on to win the series and eventually their first Governors Cup.
