Sundays Message (9/21/14): Can He Trust You With His Heart? If you want to start as we did Sunday, listen to Travis Tritt sing, “Can I Trust You With My Heart?” asking, “Can I cast my cares upon you? Can you stand the heavy load?” Life has taught most of us even when someone answers, “Yes,” it’s hard to believe them. Join us in answering 3 challenges. List situations: 1) requiring your trust, 2) where you trust someone or something & 3) that cause you to lose trust. Life is a hard teacher and her lessons involve losing trust in others. Some famous quotes support this: “I’m not upset that you lied to me. I’m upset now I can’t believe you,” “If there is no trust, there is no us,” “Trust is everything; but once broken, ‘Sorry’ means nothing” & “Trust is the hardest thing to find & the easiest thing to lose.” Life teaches to trust no one & nothing, because youll only be let you down: building structures (ex: bridges) that collapse, jobs that are terminated without warning, sports teams that lose at inopportune times, family & friends that disappoint, etc. In spite of these lessons, the word of God encourages us to trust in God: ”As much as ye shall put your TRUST in God even so much ye shall be delivered out of your trials, your troubles and your afflictions,” “TRUST in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding,” “My God; in him will I TRUST” and “We trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.” But it’s hard to trust when our life references scream, “Don’t trust anyone….ever!” Another famous quote states, “When you say, ‘Trust no one’, are you including yourself? Or are you that perfect?” We, too, fall short of being trustworthy. God has been faithful to us but we have not reciprocated, so the more important question isnt Can we trust Him with our heart but might be, “Can He trust us with His heart?” In our search for someone or something to trust, God is doing the same. John 15:16 quotes Jesus’ words, “You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.” You have been chosen and thus, have permission to claim His victory within. Accept your being chosen and entrusted. How? Be trustworthy by obeying His calling! In answer to our question: Yes, He can trust you with His heart! https://youtube/watch?v=aQQlQIjVMoI
