Sundays will sometimes take me back a few years to my youth ( and this is a FEW years ). I grew up in a small town, with maybe 3? churches in it. And you know what? Those churches were usually full. Nowadays, we hardly see the crowds like we used to, oh theres some still flourishing, but for the most part, many are a shadow of their former selves. Now I know theres different reasons, but I think most folks, if theyre honest, will recall a time when many would attend, maybe they werent saved, but the right thing to do was to honor God by at least attending services. Barely anything was open on Sundays. Sundays nowadays just seem to be another day. Driving by our local flea market and the parking lots full. (anyone told them you cant take that stuff with you?) People would rather live off the system (intentionally) than provide for themselves. Politicians on both sides serve self rather than the ones who put them in office (maybe its always been that way? I dont believe at the level it is now..... I remember someone saying, it used to be folks would be ashamed if they didnt attend, but now theyre ashamed to attend. I see this, and we look at our society and wonder what happened? as I have too. I have my thoughts. I know things werent perfect before, but when folks would show some reverence for God and His Church and His Word, when it wasnt an issue for our teachers to recite Bible verses, kids respected and their elders, teachers, anyone in authority. Weve let things of the world take over. Cant leave your house or car unlocked w/o things or it disappearing. I know some have made it that way, false teachers, misuse and abuse of authority, and so on. Family structure is shot, not moral absolutes (by the way, saying theres no absolutes makes an absolute there bud....). Sacred institutions are disrespected and defiled. If you look at the way things are now, Im not so sure you can deny somethings went wrong. Now, things can change back. Starting with each and every one of us. What are you doing this morning? Is worship part of your plans? Why not? 2 Chronicles 7:14 says.... if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Wow!!!! Pretty much nailed it!! Think about it!! I think (well I know...) that the Lord will heal our nation. But it all starts with you. I think folks are just about fed up with where thing are heading. We read in the Old Testament who when the Israelites would wander away from God, hed get their attention. Theyd repent, and God true to His word would right the ship. It can work for us too. Hava blessed Lords day, and remember, how things used to be? It can be again!!!
