Super interesting article! Just the other day a friend was explaining something they have, indirectly related to this and briefly referenced in the article, called Synesthesia. After following the link and reading about it, I realized I have/utilize a form of it called Spacial Sequence*, in that I see dates/days/months/numbers in 3-dimensional form. Ive always wanted to sculpt it, as its the only way Id know how to properly explain it to anyone. Ive tried to draw it, but it doesnt translate. (This is different from my friend, who associates colors with numbers, and other interesting/fascinating sensory pairings, identified in the more detailed breakdown of Synesthesia and its forms/sub-categories.) The only form of the out of body sensation, as explained by the article, that Ive ever experienced has been in dreams. There are times when there are 2 of me in the dream, one experiencing the dream as me, the person/character within the story, and then another version of me that hovers over/above the scene thats playing out. This 2nd version of me is always the protector, and is usually there to talk me out of the dream state when it becomes too intense or stressful. She literally tells me to wake up, its just a dream, youre ok. At that point I wake up and my heart is RACING! *Defined as [w]ith spatial sequence synesthesia (SSS), people tend to see numerical sequences as points in space. For instance, the number 1 might be farther away and the number 2 might be closer. People with SSS may have superior memories; in one study they were able to recall past events and memories far better, and in far greater detail than those without the condition. They also see months, or dates in the space around them. Some people even see time like a clock above and around them.
