Suppose you park in the same place -when visiting a particular bar - TopicsExpress

Suppose you park in the same place -when visiting a particular bar from time-to-time. Why is it that a couple times per year the city decides to suddenly ticket every car in the parking lot? Yet, all other times its totally fine to park there. Afterall, the parking meters indicate free parking after 10pm. The city has a sneaky way to generate tickets. They periodically throw an orange slip-cover over the meter for a few hours- for no particular reason other than to raise a quick $5000 via a bunch of $52 parking tickets. The same thing happened the first weekend of last year. Its a fast way to build up revenue early in the year, or early in the month. You get the point, but its only Jan 3rd now! Lol I work hard all week. Sometimes I wish to hang out with a few buddies responsibly for a few hours. Why ambush us with bogus tickets? Why screw the working man?? Im not mad. To me, its so pathetic -- that its funny. Baltimore has reached a new low regarding tickets. Actually, I dont have a problem paying legitimate parking fines. But, the city throwing a slip cover over the meter for a few hours is shameful. Equally pathetic is getting a ticket for backing your car into the parking space, instead of head forward. I did that last year, because its safer when you leave instead of backing up your car into a crowd of unpredictable drunk people. I sometimes park that way because its the responsible thing to do in some situations. Yes-- I know I can go to court to discuss with Judge. But, is leaving work at 2pm on a Tuesday really convenient? Are evening/weekend hours available? No judge wants to be inconvenienced to discuss a bogus ticket-- when inconvenient for him. Also, whats up with red light cameras at the bottom of a hill? Slam on breaks...cause accident. Why do I pass 10 red light and/or speed cameras on a 15 mile roundtrip stretch to work? Likewise, a few times each year, 25 state troopers create a checkpoint. All commercial truck drivers must stop and have vehicles inspected. (Thats right, they are permitted to pull over large commercial trucks for no reason. Perfectly legal here. ) I watch as Mom & Pop truckers drive away with multiple tickets totalling $10,000. For ex, $2500 ticket for being overloaded by 50 pounds; a worn-out wiper blade, etc. Do you realize the hundreds - of - thousands $ they generate in fines is killing small trucking companies. Why screw the working man?? My solution is: Send me a bill once a year. Call it the F/U Working Man Fund. Charge me $500. I will pay it immediately. Then, leave me alone the rest of the year. This also frees up the court system. Im willing to do auto deductions from my checking account. Again, not mad. Just offering a better solution for all. Happy New Year! :)
