Supreme Court blasts Sheila Government for imported bus stops Niticentral Staff 3 Dec 2013 Supreme Court | bus queue shelter contract Supreme Court blasts Sheila Government for imported bus stops The Supreme Court lambasted at Sheila Dikshit Government in Delhi for choosing French JC Decaux for contract of bus queue shelters across the State and also questioned the bona fide of the decision. A bench of Justices TS Thakur and Vikramjeet Sen slammed the Delhi Government for not giving even a single contract fairly and honestly and awarded the contract without searching for eligible companies. “How and when did you single out this company? Was it only company with international repute to complete the job? Why did you not form a search committee to lookout for other eligible companies? You cannot hand over a contract like this by making a choice,” said the bench. The State Government’s pessimistic approach was also slammed by the apex court after the former raised apprehensions that the cancellation of the contract could lead to disastrous condition of the bus queue shelters and add up to the woes of commuters. “The pessimistic approach may be a reflection of your governance. You say if the court interferes, there will be no bus shelters and there will be no maintenance. It shows you are incapable of fixing a simple contract. You have handpicked a single company and now asking us to not to interfere,” the bench further said.
