Surah: 68 Aya: 44-45 “So leave me, [O Muhammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies the Quran. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know.” “And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm.” As Salaamun Alaikum Sisters and Brothers, The Women in the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad were also a part of the Plan of Allah. They were not just there for having children and house cleaning as many learned individuals would have us to believe. Our wives are not “Maids”…they are our “Mates”…they are not our “Property” they are our “Partners”. Please join the group “Women in the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad” and participate as much as possible and keep it clean and respectful. All new information will be posted in the group and then posted to other groups later. Those members in the group will have first looks at information posted. We will also be posting a four-page list of the Quran with the order of how it was revealed according to chapters! Surah Qalam (The Pen) was the second chapter revealed in the Quran. Some verses in certain chapters were revealed at different times and I will do my best to bring this important information forward as we go along. We are dealing with verses that deal with women, but this verse from the Quran brings an important issue to mind in relationships with women or men who may not believe in the message of Islam at first. Do we just assume that they are not believers? Do we make another effort? What did the Prophet Muhamad do? The first thing I would like to point out is this…we must learn that the words in brackets { } are not in the Arabic text of the Quran. They are put there for better clarification, or an attempt at it. Now, look at the words in brackets {to punishment}….do you think that is the best choice of words? It is important that we investigate without prejudice and bias because we do not wish to be offensive towards the scholars. Many people in Mecca denied the Quran after the first meeting with the Prophet Muhammad but later became Companions, Martyrs and Teachers of Quran. I believe that some people denied the message because it was strange to them, but after the message became clear with “evidence”, an individual was able to truly decide. Prophet Muhammad said: “Islam began as something strange and will return to being something strange.” So, would it be better in this situation to write what Allah said only? “So leave me with whoever denies the Quran. We will progressively lead them from where they do not know.” “And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm.” What I came to realize was that even though these words are in brackets or parenthesis, they still help form an understanding of the context of what we are reading…do you agree? -- Ibn Umar reported: the Prophet (s) said: Do not prevent women from going to the mosque when they seek your permission. Bilal b. Abdullah said: By Allah, we shall certainly prevent them. On this Ibn Umar (r) turned towards him and reprimanded him [in another version, thumped the speakers chest] so harshly as I have never hear him do before. Abdullah ibn Umar (r) said: I am narrating to you that which comes from the Prophet (s) and you (dare) say: By Allah we shall certainly prevent them. [Sahih Muslim, Vol. I, #885] Prophet Muhammad said: “Islam began as something strange and will return to being something strange.”
