Sure Richard and a fair bit of it is heading our way today! 42c plus and dust and paritcals expected later all the way from the Sahara!Hot air from the south will hit the Algarve and Alentejo on Tuesday 20th August carrying particles and dust, according to a warning from the Portuguese Environment Agency. The Algarve is now on orange alert due to an increased risk of fire and the consequences of heat. The particles phenomenon will affect the region as "an air mass originating in north Africa, carrying dust particles in suspension, will reduce the quality of air in southern Portugal. The long-distance transport of particles of natural origin from the desert areas of north Africa will cause high levels of particulate matter." In Portugal and Mediterranean countries this phenomenon is more common in spring and summer.
